Phonics & Spelling Consolidate work on initial and final sounds in words Learn the short vowel sounds and then read and spell ?cvc? words (cvc = consonant, vowel, consonant) | Phonics & Spelling Learn to read and spell simple words with the following letter patterns: ay, a-e, ea, igh, i-e, o-e, ew, u-e, oy, ow, er and ur. |
Grammar & Punctuation Learn different strategies to help work out unknown words when reading Use a capital letter for ?I? and names Recognise sentences in reading | Grammar & Punctuation Recognise and take account of exclamation marks and commas when reading Use capitals for headings Re-read own work to ensure it makes sense Learn about words that link parts of sentences, e.g. and, then, because, etc. |
