14 Sep 2007 - 'WOW' - Walk on Wednesday

Dear Parents,
During the last school year we successfully participated in the Government initiative to encourage children to walk to school on a regular basis. We want to continue the initiative again this year so we will be operating the 'Walk on Wednesday' in line with Ascot Heath Junior School. We would encourage you to walk or cycle with your child/children on this day.
We will be starting this term's scheme on Wednesday 19th September. Your child/children will be issued with a WoW card and every time they walk to school on a Wednesday the card will be stamped. Once the card has been stamped 10 times during the term, it can be exchanged for a free swimming session at Bracknell Leisure Centre - provided the child is accompanied by a ticket-paying adult. As and when the cards are full they will be collected by our volunteer 'stampers'.
If you live too greater distance away to walk all the way, you can park at a safe place approximately 10 minutes walk from school and finish your journey on foot.
Please complete the slip below and hand it to me in the playground next Wednesday morning. Your child/children will receive their card and first stamp if they?ve walked that day.
However, the scheme won't work successfully unless we have volunteers to stamp cards on a Wednesday morning. This isn't an onerous task, simply collect the stamps and spare cards from Reception and be ready to start stamping in the playground from 8.45 a.m. We hope to have enough volunteers to draw up a rota commencing Wednesday 26th September, so if you are able to help this term please indicate on the slip below.
